The Kansas Energy Program (K-State Engineering Extension), in partnership with USDA Rural Development, is hosting a Small Business Energy Workshop in Hutchinson on September 18th. The focus of the workshop is to educate small business owners, ag producers, and economic development coordinators on the opportunities and benefits available through energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Ideally, by implementing energy efficiency or renewable energy projects businesses and ag producers can reduce operational costs, allowing for the retention or creation of jobs. Simultaneously, local vendors contribute to the area’s economic viability through work completed to implement these projects. Beginning October 1st, rural small businesses and ag producers will again be able to apply for USDA’s Rural Energy for American Program (REAP) grant, for which award winners receive up to 25% reimbursement on eligible project costs.
Details for the workshop are below and are also included in the attached promotional flyer. There is no cost to attend the workshop, and all technical assistance provided by the Kansas Energy Program is done at no charge.
