Statement of Environmental Commitment

Types of Assistance

The Pollution Prevention Institute (PPI) is housed within the College of Engineering at Kansas State University. Started in 1989, PPI is dedicated to serving Kansas businesses and organizations in environmental and pollution prevention technical assistance. Entirely grant-funded, PPI provides a number of services:

Environmental regulations assistance

K-State PPI operates the Kansas Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP) whose goal is to assist small businesses (approximately 100 employees or fewer) with understanding and complying with environmental regulations.

Pollution prevention assistance

Funded through various grants from the EPA, KDHE, USDA, and Department of Energy, PPI serves as great resource for assisting in furthering your pollution prevention goals. Please call 800-578-8898 or email ksu-ppi@ksu.edu to discuss your needs and see how we might assist you.

Intern program

The PPI intern program pairs top-level engineering and environmental science students with Kansas business and industry. PPI recruits, hires, trains, and mentors interns who work on-site at the Kansas facility for 10 weeks during the summer.

In this webinar, Cris Brazil provides an overview of our successful intern program that has resulted in emission reductions of at least 233,557 MTCO2e, and savings of more than $22 million dollars through implemented P2 projects, documented in more than 100 case summaries.

Resources, training, and workshops

Each year, the K-State PPI hosts various webinars and workshops on specific environmental regulations and pollution prevention. PPI also develops and updates environmental tools and publications; all are located here on our website.
