Technical Assistance

The Pollution Prevention Institute, or PPI, offers environmental technical assistance to Kansas businesses primarily through the Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP) and the Pollution Prevention (P2) programs. PPI is 100% grant-funded and periodically has additional funding to provide technical assistance for targeted industries, like healthcare and aerospace, or for communities.

Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP)

SBEAP offers free confidential environmental compliance assistance to small businesses in Kansas. Hotline, email and on-site visits are available for concerns related to air quality and permitting, hazardous waste, stormwater, storage tanks and other select topics.  Small businesses are typically defined as facilities with 100 or fewer employees. SBEAP services are primarily funded by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. To ask a question or request assistance, call 800-578-8898 or email sbeap@ksu.edu.

Pollution Prevention (P2)

We offer pollution prevention technical assistance, including site visits, for all Kansas businesses. In-depth pollution prevention services are completed through our P2 intern program which places a trained intern at host industries for a 10-week period during the summer. To ask a question or request assistance, contact us at 800-578-8898 or ksu-ppi@ksu.edu. For more information on pollution prevention opportunities through PPI, check our Pollution Prevention and Intern Program pages.
